comic sans is everywhere

  • i'm sure some of you can relate to this as well – you're walking through a city you've never been to before, and suddenly, there it is: comic sans. ever since encountering this font in the wild for the first time, i just can't unsee it. for some reason, i find it utterly amusing to spot comic sans in the most unusual situations and at the stupidest places. that's why in this section of the website, i'll be uploading pictures with comic sans in it – be it on salon billboards or menu boards at kebab shops.
the first one: i took this with my phone on the 07.03.2024. i like how they changed the date after printing it on an advertising banner. "flohmarkt" is german for flea market.
i recently went to the bank to discuss my account and stuff, and guess what caught my eye? comic sans. at first, i was seated in a position where i could only read it mirrored because the light was shining through the page; but my ability to spot comic sans never fails me! when i finished my conversation, i took another look, and sure enough, it was indeed written in comic sans.

i would never have thought i would say something like this, but someone actually put in some effort into their comic sans advertisement.
they close for an hour and a half during the weekdays (at least i think thats what it says)

there was a bright light directly above the comic sans signs; so it was kind of challenging for me to take this picture, and i still don't think it's good. note to myself: figure out which setting works best in difficult lighting conditions with the eos 6d.

i thought it would be almost impossible to find comic sans in japan since they write everything in kanji, hiragana, and katakana (obviously). but sure enough, comic sans is everywhere after all.
this kebab place somewhere near ueno (where i had some おいしい falafel) had written the english drink names in comic sans.
